Ah, Social Networking

So just today a post over at A Variety of Words brought a new website to my attention that I thought would be worth pointing out.

The basics are covered in that post, but what seems potentially interesting about Goodreads, when compared with LibraryThing, is that it’s attempting to be a sort of social networking site, along the lines of MySpace or Facebook. As a pretty sociable person myself, the idea of such a place centered around books certainly seems fun to me–complete with aforementioned masturbatory back-slapping–so hopefully the bulk of the target audience will think so as well. I do already have a LibraryThing account, of course… but hey, I’ve got MySpace and Facebook at the same time too.

So, here I am… lonely and friendless. Sniffle. (And still building the virtual library, so forgive its barren look.)
